The substitute Culture Minister, Fani Palli - Petralia, the president of the Democracy of Germany, Horst Koehler and the general Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Gianna Despotopoulou, visited the "Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece" organization in Kallithea.

After informing the visitors about the operation and services which the Organization offer, a tour was given of the facilities and the Tactual Museum, where exact replicas of ancient statues and other objects are exhibited. Visually impaired visitors are able to touch and feel the exhibits, as well as be informed about their history by signs written in Braille.

"Today’s tour given by the president, the director and the board of the Lighthouse for the Blind was really an eye-opener. The president of Germany and his wife were really impressed, as of course, were we all, with the major work which has been undergoing at the Lighthouse for the Blind for many years and at the Tactual Museum. We, at the Culture Ministry, are going to empower this Museum, which is unique, not only in Greece but also in all of Europe, to constitute a Lighthouse Culture. Just as "Lighthouse for the Blind" existed as a real lighthouse all these years to support those with sight problems, so will we reinforce this effort to create through it, a "Lighthouse Culture" pointed out Mrs. Petralia.
